Welcome to Year 5 September 2020
Welcome to the Year 5 class page!
We are delighted to be welcoming our children back to school and have an exciting and busy year planned. Mrs Flint will be teaching Year 5 on Monday and Tuesday and Miss Jarman will be teaching the class on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
We will begin our Year 5 learning journey with an expedition through Earth and Space as we launch into our new topic. We will be learning all about Earths position within our Solar System and will hone our scientific skills of enquiry as we explore how our planet changes to give us day and night. We will also be discovering what it takes to become one of NASA's astronauts and how individuals like Tim Peake are exploring the galaxy and finding out new information every day.
As well as our topic work, we have got a whole host of exciting experiences to look forward to this term, including learning a new musical instrument and continuing with our Spanish lessons.
We will be working hard to become more independent and resilient learners who relish a challenge and learn from our mistakes.
This half term the children will have PE on Monday and Dance on Wednesday. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, children will be required to leave their PE kit in school for the full half term. Please put the kit in a labelled plastic bag. We have Music on Tuesday and Spanish on Wednesday.
It is really important that you read with your child as often as possible. Reading books will be sent home and must be returned to school each day in the plastic wallet provided. Please complete the reading record diary to show your child has read their book and is ready for a new one.
For this half term, homework will be set via Seesaw on Wednesday and will include spellings, times tables and MyMaths.
If you have any concerns or information you want to share with us, please send a message on Seesaw or Dojo and we will reply as soon as possible.
