Year 5
Welcome to our Year 5 class page!
Welcome back to school! We hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas break filled with rest, fun, and lovely time with family and friends. We are thrilled to begin an exciting new term with our Year 5 pupils and can’t wait to continue on our journey of learning, creativity, and growth together.
This term, our classroom will be buzzing with activities, discoveries, and the exploration of fascinating topics. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store for Year 5:
English – Twisted Fairy Tales
We will reimagine classic fairy tales in fresh and unexpected ways. Pupils will explore creative writing, develop descriptive skills, and learn to craft engaging narratives.
History – Ancient Greece
Get ready to dive into the wonders of Ancient Greece! From the epic tales of gods and heroes to the origins of democracy, we will uncover the fascinating culture, myths, and achievements of this ancient civilisation that continue to shape our world today.
Science – Animals, Including Humans
In Science, we will investigate the human body and learn how it functions alongside the fascinating world of animals. Pupils will explore the topic of reproduction and understand how we stay healthy and active.
Computing – Microbits Programming
This term in Computing, we’ll venture into the world of programming with Microbits. We’ll explore the concept of selection in programming, empowering children to create interactive projects and develop logical thinking. It’s all about having fun whilst learning skills for the future!
Religious Education – What it is like to be a Muslim in Britain Today
In R.E., we’ll explore the experiences and perspectives of Muslims in Britain today. This topic will help us deepen our understanding of diversity, respect, and what it means to belong to different communities. We will also be visiting Ashton Central Mosque to find out even more!
Design Technology – Textiles and Patchwork
Our creative energies will shine as we design and sew a beautiful patchwork blanket using various fabric shapes. This collaborative project will become a cherished addition to our classroom library area, adding a cosy and personal touch to our shared space.
At the heart of everything we do this term is the belief that every child can achieve amazing things. We encourage our Year 5 pupils to try their best, embrace challenges, and celebrate their efforts and progress. Parents and guardians, your support plays a vital role in your child’s success, and we value our partnership with you in making this term a positive and enriching experience.
