Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

We hope you have had a lovely time off over the holidays and are raring to go for our final half term!

This term, we will continue to study World War Two topic in history with a greater focus on life on the Home Front. We will even get to experience life as an evacuee in school before we take part in a role play day at Stockport Air Raid Shelters learning to be good evacuees.

Our science topic this term will be Forces, so we will be conducting lots of exciting experiments. We will also be linking our design and technology with this as we will be making our own mechanisms.

P.E.

This term, PE lessons will be every Monday and Tuesday. Children must remember to bring their kit weekly, this includes:

  • White T-shirt
  • Sweatshirt or tracksuit top
  • Navy shorts or tracksuit bottoms
  • Sports socks
  • Trainers or pumps

Please make sure your child has the appropriate kit for these days.

Uniform

We feel that school uniform gives a sense of belonging and by dressing correctly, pupils can demonstrate their pride in their school.

Our school uniform is:
Trousers – black, grey or navy
Polo/cotton shirt – white or pale blue, with or without school logo
Skirt/pinafore – grey, black or navy
Sweatshirt/jumper – plain navy, with or without school logo
Cardigan – plain navy, with or without school logo
Fleece – plain navy, with or without school logo

We also ask that children have suitable shoes for school and not trainers.

Equipment

All equipment is provided by school and we would prefer it if children did not bring their own pencils and pencil cases, however, a water bottle would be very useful to your child in order for them to access a drink throughout the school day.

Homework

Homework will be given out to the children on Wednesday and should be completed by the following Monday. It is important that the children bring their homework book, their reading record and their reading book to school every day.

We look forward to our next term together,

Mrs Fernandez, Miss Harding and Mrs Lynch
