Year 1

Welcome to the Year 1 class page!

In Year 1 your child will be taught by Mrs Moorcroft and supported by Mrs Distin Webster. This year we shall also have Miss Abbie and Miss Eve who will also be supporting us in class.

We can’t believe it is our last term in Year 1! Where has this year gone!

We have lots of exciting plans ahead for the summer term. In English we will be looking at the traditional tale of Jack and the Beanstalk as well as some non-fiction texts related to our topic of growth. In Science, our focus will be plants and we will be naming a variety of plants and trees. In Geography we will be exploring our local area and using geographical language to describe the features of our local area.

Below are just a few reminders to get us ready for the next 6 weeks!

P.E will be on a Wednesday with our Dance coach. Please ensure your child has their P.E kit in school and we will send it home at the end of the half term.

Homework will consist of Reading books, Lexia, Numbots and Phonics to prepare us for the Phonics Screening Check after the Whit holiday. Homework will be given out Friday and need to be returned to school by the following Friday.

Teaching your child is a team effort and children benefit greatly from additional support from home. You can support your child by helping them to complete homework, spellings and by listening to them read daily. Please brings reading books to school EVERYDAY.

Snack – Please send your child in with a healthy snack. Water is available throughout the day.
