Year 1
Welcome to the Year 1 class page!
In Year 1 your child will be taught by Mrs Moorcroft and supported by Mrs Distin Webster. This year we shall also have Miss Abbie and Miss Eve who will also be supporting us in class.
Wow Summer Term 2 already!
Important Notice: First week back we will have the Phonics Screening Check and this is planned to take place on Wednesday 10th June.
This half term we will be looking at fantasy stories and using our imagination to innovate our own version of the story Nat Fantastic. This unit will also include creating posters and using speech and adjectives to improve our writing.
In Maths we will learning about time, money, shape, direction and position.
History is our focus this half term and we will be learning about Travel and Transport which will include how transport has changed over time and looking at the inventor of the Stephenson's Rocket and the Wright Brothers.
Below are just a few reminders to get us ready for the next half term.
P.E.
This half term Year 1 will have dance on a Wednesday. Please ensure your child has P.E kit in school and we will send it home at the end of the half term for a wash.
Homework
Homework will consist of Reading books, Lexia and Numbots.
It is really important that you read with your child as often as possible.
Please bring reading books to school everyday.
Please continue to send a healthy snack to school for your child. Alternatively, fruit is always available in class.
