Curriculum

'Learning Together, Growing Together, Succeeding Together'

At Micklehurst All Saints CE Primary School we are proud to provide a curriculum that ensures that all of our children are given the opportunity to blossom within our kind and caring family.

Our curriculum is ambitious and based on Christian values and builds on previous skills and experiences. It is designed to take into account children's starting points and backgrounds.

We have worked as a team to consider what we would like our children to achieve during their learning journey at Micklehurst All Saints. This is our Curriculum Intent.

We have then looked carefully at how the children's learning is organised and sequenced and what experiences we are able to offer. This is our Implementation Statement.

We have then looked at how we will evaluate the extent to which our children have achieved all the aims and ambitions detailed in our Intent and Implementation Statements. This is our Curriculum Impact Statement.

Assessment

At Micklehurst All Saints CE Primary School we ensure that assessment is part of the on-going cycle of teaching and learning on a day to day basis.  Your child will be assessed against the objectives of the new National Curriculum for the year group they are in.  We will be reporting to you at parents evening, in half termly and end of year reports that they are/have:

  • 'Working towards the expectations for their year group'
  • 'Mostly achieved the expectations for their year group'
  • 'Achieved the expectations for their year group' or
  • 'Working at greater depth within the expectations for their year group'

The DfE expects that most children will end the year having achieved the expectation for their year group.  Due to the number of objectives the children need to be assessed against, they will be meeting this expectation only at the very end of the year.  As most children work towards these year group objectives over the course of the whole year, most children will be 'working towards the expectations for their year group' during at least the Autumn Term, if not for much of the Spring Term too.

For more information about the National Curriculum objectives that that your child is working on please refer to the assessment booklets on the class pages.
