PE and Sport Premium

The primary PE Sports Premium was introduced in March 2013 to improve the provision of physical education and school sport in primary schools across England.  The funding is allocated directly to primary schools and is ring-fenced.  This means that it can only be spent on improving the provision of PE and sport and health and wellbeing in school.

Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils received £16,000 with £10 added per pupil.

At Micklehurst All Saints CE Primary School we are very fortunate to have a multi surface games pitch and a large school field as well as a gardening area, tyre park, reflection area and nature reserve that is home to our four school ducks.  We make full use of these areas using our funding to buy in specialist sports coaches to deliver both PE lessons and after school clubs, a school gardener that works with classes in the outside learning areas and mindfulness and emotional well being sessions with external practitioners.  We also run the Commando Joe programme that aims to provide a character learning journey encouraging children to think critically and develop a mindset that thrives on looking at themselves and others from different perspectives.

Our annual sports week sees coaches from different sports and disciplines come into school to work with children introducing them to all sorts of exciting sports and activities.  We also have children trained as Play and Fitness Leaders who run playtime activities for younger children and act as ambassadors for healthy living.  Every morning everyone in school participates in "Wake up Shake Up" and after lunch we have our five minute "Mindfulness Session" to prepare us all for the afternoons learning.

Please read the information below which gives details of our Sports Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
