Year 1

Welcome to the Year 1 class page!

In Year 1 your child will be taught by Mrs Moorcroft and supported by Mrs Distin Webster. This year we shall also have Miss Abbi and Miss Eve who will also be supporting us in class.

Thank you for your continuing support during the autumn term. We look forward to working with you again for another busy term.

Spring Term 1

This half term our English work will focus on non-fiction texts and poetry and will be based on pirates. In Geography we will be looking at the four countries in the United Kingdom and in RE we will be looking at sacred buildings. Please see our Curriculum Overview below for more information. 

Below are just a few reminders to get us ready for the next 6 weeks!

P.E will be on a Tuesday with our Sports coach. Please ensure your child has P.E kit in school and we will send it home at the end of the half term.

Homework will consist of Reading books, Lexia and Numbots. Homework will be given out Wednesday and will need to be returned to school by the following Monday.

We will also introduce some new phonic homework to help the children prepare for the Phonics Screening Check that will take place in the summer term.

Teaching your child is a team effort and children benefit greatly from additional support from home. You can support your child by helping them to complete homework, spellings and by listening to them read daily. Please bring reading books to school EVERYDAY.

Snack – Please send your child in with a healthy snack and a water bottle. Water is available throughout the day.
