Welcome to the Year 2 page.
This year Class 2 will be taught by Mrs Willcox and supported by Mrs Turner. If you have a concern or information which you wish to share with us, we are usually available every morning before school from 8.30 am or most afternoons straight after school when you collect your child. Alternatively you can message on the Seesaw app and I’ll aim to respond to you as soon as I can.
Welcome back! I hope you have had a fantastic summer. We have a busy and fun year ahead of us, with lots of exciting topics to look forward to. Our topic during the Autumn term will be The Great Fire of London. This is part of our new, exciting Commando Joe curriculum which covers a range of curriculum areas including PSHE, Geography, History and Literacy. The children will complete a variety of ‘missions’ throughout our topic and will be developing their self-awareness, communication, resilience and a variety of other skills. Keep looking at the Seesaw blog for picture updates from our weekly missions. We will also hopefully be visiting Staircase House in Stockport to finish our fabulous topic
Seesaw and Dojo
You should have now received an invitation to join your child’s class blog (Seesaw) and Dojo team points. Here you will be able to get a feel of some of the exciting things we get up to in Year 2. You will also be able to use Dojo to see how many Dojo points your child receives a day. We hope that you will enjoy having more of an insight into what we get up to.
This half term PE will be on a Tuesday and Dance will be on a Thursday. Please make sure your children bring:
• sweatshirt or tracksuit top
• shorts or tracksuit bottoms
• sports socks
• trainers or pumps
Please make sure your child has the appropriate kit for these days and they are clearly labelled with their name.
Homework and Reading
It is really important that you read with your child as often as possible. Reading books are changed regularly. Please complete the reading record diary to show your child has read their book and is ready for a new one. Due to the new higher expectation, for your child to be at the expected standard at the end of Year 2 they need to be reading white band books by the end of the year.
Homework will be given out on a Wednesday and is due back in for the following Monday. Homework activities will include weekly spellings, time’s tables and occasionally topic homework to complete.
Thank you for your continued support!
Mrs Willcox and Mrs Turner
Your child will receive a free piece of fruit/veg and will be given the opportunity to buy additional snack from the school snack shop. Your child will need around 10-30p and they are responsible for their own snack money. Alternatively you can send your child in with a healthy snack.
